Job Overview

A Store Keeper is a vital part of the warehouse or storage facility team, responsible for managing inventory efficiently and ensuring the smooth flow of goods. The role encompasses receiving, organizing, and storing stock, maintaining accurate inventory records, and preparing goods for delivery or internal use. The Store Keeper ensures all operations adhere to safety, quality, and organizational standards.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Receiving and Inspecting Goods
    • Accept deliveries of goods and verify quantities and quality against purchase orders.
    • Inspect received items for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
    • Ensure proper documentation for all received items.
  2. Inventory Management
    • Maintain accurate records of stock levels using inventory management systems.
    • Conduct regular stock checks and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
    • Organize stock in a logical and accessible manner to maximize efficiency.
  3. Stock Organization and Storage
    • Ensure goods are stored safely, securely, and in appropriate conditions.
    • Rotate stock to prevent obsolescence and spoilage (First-In-First-Out).
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the storage area.
  4. Order Fulfillment
    • Prepare and package goods for delivery or internal use as per requests.
    • Coordinate with the delivery team to ensure timely dispatch of goods.
    • Track outgoing stock and update inventory systems accordingly.
  5. Reporting and Documentation
    • Keep detailed logs of incoming and outgoing goods.
    • Prepare inventory reports for management review.
    • Assist in preparing purchase requisitions based on inventory needs.
  6. Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to all workplace safety and health regulations.
    • Ensure proper handling and storage of hazardous materials, if applicable.
    • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding inventory management.
  7. Collaboration and Coordination
    • Work closely with procurement, logistics, and sales teams to meet organizational goals.
    • Address and resolve inventory-related issues proactively.
  8. Maintenance of Equipment
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of storage equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallets, etc.).
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Requirements:
    High school diploma or equivalent. A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management or warehousing.
    • Familiarity with inventory software and warehouse management systems.
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
    • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, inventory systems, etc.).
    • Good physical stamina and ability to lift/move heavy items as needed.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Dependable and trustworthy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work under pressure.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or move items.
  • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
