Job Description
- JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must possess a PhD in Information Security or closely related field with minimum three years teaching experience. Industry experience is preferred.
- JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibilities will include teaching a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses across the Information Security curriculum, advising students, participating in the continued development of our curriculum, and actively participating in the other faculty responsibilities within the department and college.
Skills Required:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of information security principles, security protocols, cryptography, and network security.
- Familiarity with operating systems, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and security auditing tools.
- Expertise in security risk management and threat analysis.
- Teaching & Communication:
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex topics to students at varying levels.
- Ability to develop course materials, including syllabi, assignments, exams, and other teaching resources.
- Experience with online teaching platforms and tools (e.g., learning management systems like Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas).
- Research & Critical Thinking:
- Strong ability to conduct independent research and contribute to academic scholarship in the field of Information Security.
- Ability to integrate industry trends and cutting-edge technologies into the curriculum and teaching materials.
- Interpersonal & Teamwork:
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within the department and across academic disciplines.
- Strong mentorship and advising skills for students pursuing both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions for cybersecurity challenges.
- Ability to address both theoretical and practical aspects of information security in the classroom.
Part Time Lecturer – Business and Economics
The following are the minimum duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer
- Undertake teaching at the undergraduate/graduate levels in areas related to specialization
- Provide timely feedback of coursework and exams and other kinds of assessments
- Participate in the invigilation of exams
- Prepare and administer all tools of assessment as appropriate
- Contribute towards the development and review of courses and programs
- Lead tutorials and provide general support and guidance to students
- Maintain office hours to meet with students
- Serve as an academic advisor to students
- Supervise and participate in student extra-curricular activities
- Keep up to date with advances in pedagogy
- Maintain continuing professional development
- Contribute and participate in faculty seminars
- Serve the academic community by organizing seminars, conferences and editing papers and documents
- Carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the policies and regulations of the college
- Demonstrate academic excellence and provide an education that contributes to the academic mission of the college
- Attend to other matters that may be assigned by the department Head, Associate Deans or Dean from time to time.
